Meaning doesn’t
wait for perfection.

You don’t have to have every piece in place to make something meaningful.

Imperfectly Perfect Art begins with that belief. It is a space for expression, authentic storytelling, and the freedom to create as you are.

“You are perfectly where you need to be at the point that you are.”
01

Intentional work.

Professionalism, structure, and care in how the work is made and shared.

02

Stories with integrity.

Representing Black experiences with authenticity, respect, and depth.

03

Impact that lasts.

A commitment to connecting creative expression with educational value.

02 / MEET THE ARTIST

Hi, I’m Markel.

I’m an artist, a teacher, and the founder of Imperfectly Perfect Art.

My practice is rooted in a reminder I need, too: you are enough. I make art to express, to process, and to trust what happens when I stop chasing perfection.

I often give a piece three to five hours. That boundary helps me let the work be what it is, instead of revising it forever.

A little belief. A willingness to begin.
Room to be human.

03 / OUR CREATIVE LANGUAGE

Different forms.
Connected purpose.

Four disciplines.
One commitment to meaningful expression.

THE WORK OF EXPRESSION

Let the marks
tell a story.

Visual art is at the heart of my personal practice. It gives feeling a form and invites people to find their own connection to the work.

FILM / THE VOICES BEHIND THE WORK

Stories, in
motion.

Film brings another dimension to the work: the voice, the process, and the people behind a piece. Start with two short conversations on painting and performance.
